When I bought my V70 2002 2.0 T5 (which is still not running). It came with a speedometer that isn't legible due burns on the heat.
I searched the forum for a repair solution but obviously, you cold weather folks aren't gonna have this problem.
So I went from my YouTube education, took open the speedo and decided to repair it myself.

Sorry state of when I got it:
After taking it a part:
They just come right off:
The residue from the initial polarized sheet will be stuck to the old LCDs like so:
Pop a soaked alcohol solution over them for a few minutes (will need to repeat):
Scrape away: It's best to use a razor or a blade which covers the entire LCD width to save time.
You basically are carving it away, and don't worry about scratching the LCD plastic below, it's almost impossible to (I've tried).
This is as clean as I got em: There will still be a residue/patch left behind, I found it no longer would clean up, so gave up.
This is the new polarized sheet https://www.amazon.com/Selens-Polarizin ... dGY&psc=1 next to the old, just stick it on and re-assemble:

Can you post a picture of the finished items? This is an awesome piece of help info, fortunately one we don't see here in Canada that I am aware of. I have an 02 XC70 sitting outside in -5C just now with over 185,000km on it and the cluster is still good.

Weird thing happened.
Took more pictures of the finished product, look in phone, it's not there.
Will be heading to the workshop on Saturday to send parts that just arrived from Amazon. Will re-take pics.
Am also compiling pics of works/parts replaced to post on another thread.

Impressive!
1982 240DL: Drove it 32 years and 1.5 million miles (sold, even still had mint leather!)
2001 v70 2.4T: The most expensive $1500 car I ever bought ("Volvo Turbo" - what an oxymoron!) (sold)
2004 v70: Far less fatally-flawed v70 - It served well (sold)
2010 v50: Smaller, slightly sportier wagon. Its got a spoiler, so I upgraded with sway bars!
