S70 Serpentine Belt too loose. HELP!!!

Post by sandfire »

I just tried to replace my serpentine belt, but it has about 3 inches of slack . The tensioner is in the "tight" position. I have routed it just like the old one and like the diagram in the manual. I even tried to put the old one back on, but same problem. I must be doing something wrong. Anybody else face this problem. I am pulling my hair out thinking about it!!! :?: :?: :?:

You're omitting a pulley somewhere. Keep looking at the routing diagram compared to what you've got.

I have looked at the route diagram a dozen times. I even had two friends of mine over and they tried it. Same problem. It does seem like I am missing a pulley though. I'll try again when it is daylight. Thanks for the quick reply. :D

I have read some places that there are serpentine belts of different lengths. Have you compared the old with the new? Don't remember exactly where I read this but I'd imagine a half hour with google should bring something up.
