Mist on the windshield or vents is often caused by a leak in the heater core. The heater core has coolant circulated on the inside of the tubes and the vent air blowing over the tubes will carry coolant into the cabin if the tubes have a leak. You will also smell a sweet coolant smell.
Sometimes a radiator stop leak may help, but often the stop leak products will cause more problems.
Replacing the heater core is usually a major job to disassemble the dash area.

On a P80, replacing the heater core is not terrible. It is one of the easier Volvos to do this on. Several videos out there on how to do this.
