Volvo Repair Database Buggy cabin fan-speed switch - v70 2007

Post by OliPhant »

Greetings,
My v70 cabin fan-speed switch is broken - almost… On turning the knob to adjust fan-speed the speed jumps around between max and min, finally settling around mid-range. Seems like a fried electrical connection…

Anyone know this weird problem? Thanks in advance for any tips on fixing it.

Thanks!

I have a similar problem on my 2005 S60 whereby it either doesnt work at all or it would move a notch by itself or by attempting to increase fan speed it would actually decrease it. I would suggest giving it a smack, with a fist if possible and see if that temporarily fixes it. I think it may be the potentiometers(rotary encoders?) but I cannot be certain.

Thanks! I also have that quirk where an attempt to raise fan speed lowers it... I'll give it a whack!

mine too. i want to take the potentiometer out and see if cleaning the contacts will do anything, but the cap doesn't want to come off. best of luck to the knob-whackers.
