1999 head / engine compatibility

Post by Sveedy »

I figured that I'd start a new thread regarding this swap.

So to recap, this is a '99 V70 GLT that I came across and picked up for $125 delivered to my house. Obviously not running. The head was warped due to overheating while sitting in a drive-through 3 years ago. The head was then tossed, so now I'm stuck trying to find a head that will work on this odd year car.
I found 3 turbo heads in the junkyard, but all are 2002 MY. Something tells me that they won't work, but is there a way to tell from engine #'s if a head will or will not work on this bastard year ? Is it just engine family numbers or is it more specific than that ?

w/o trying to push you over to swedespeed, I think there should be valuable info over there, there are alot of people doing RN swaps, so they might know about the similarities and differences.

I’ve got a 99 head sitting up inAlbany with one stripped head bolt it can’t get it off the block.

I think it was a t5 block B5245T3 but that should work

I’ll see if I can get a plan to get it off

That would be wonderful ! Glad to buy it, provided you can get it off :) Seems like it would work as long as it's a turbo, so worth the gamble.

Thanks abscate !
