From my experience here with the 'wonderful' MM ETM's on P80's you can swap the ETM in from a car with the same spec. So NA to NA and Turbo to Turbo. Now what I have not yet tried is say an LPT to HPT. Again here we do not have the 2.0 engine options so have not had the opportunity to try the 2.4 or 2.5 to 2.0 or reverse swaps.
So simple recommendation is you need to find one from the same engine version to try.
