Hi all,
I wonder if anyone has had this issue...
The 2006 S60 with 106K miles:
- At low speed in parking lot such as 5 mph, I hear ratting noise like loose rocks.
- At highway speed, no noise.
- So I jacked up the rear end and supported with jack stands.
- Rear Shocks look fine, no broken upper mounts.
- Sway bar bushings and end links seemed fine.
- I got underneath and tapped the Left Rear side of the Fuel Tank (directly below where the LR passenger sits)...I heard rattling noise like rocks inside the fuel tank or rocks above the fuel tank.
- Think about a plastic tray holding 2-3 rocks and you tap it from below...this is the sound I heard.
- Fuel tank is 3/4 full.
- Short of removing the fuel tank (which I don't have any desire to) to check what is above it or inside it.
- My "lazy" ming tells me to live with it. But I want to ask the group if you guys ever had this issue before?

its a good time to get a endoscope/boroscope for smartphone, $40 amazon, get one with the light and mirror.

I get a weird rattle after filling up the S60 when pulling away from gas station. Living with it after 5 years.

It could be the heat shields around the exhaust near the tank. There are fasteners that can vibrate loose. Makes rattle noises.

I had a horrible rattle in the p80 suspension which was a loose spring cup on the left rear strut. Is there an analogous part in the p2 suspension?
