Hey all,

Someone tried to scoot past me when I was making a left yesterday. Tore up the driver side front fender, headlight, and bumper pretty good.

The car is already salvaged (was “totaled” in an accident several years ago). I suspect I won’t get much from insurance, even though I’m not at fault. I take really good care of the car - it’s in GREAT shape mechanically, and I planned to keep it for many years to come. Just did a PCV system rebuild, front swaybar, engine mounts, and more this year. Long and meticulous maintenance history on the engine/trans/AWD/diff.

So question for forum folks: is this something you’d fix? Looks to me like I “just” need a front bumper, wheel well skirt/cover, and a fender. All is bolt/unbolt (ie no welding or anything). But I am no body repair expert, and honestly it will be hard to find used parts from another 07 (no headlight wipers, no sidemarker, so no early p2s).

I’d appreciate any and all advice. I’m heavily leaning toward fixing it - cheaper to put $1k into this than it would be to buy a new car.

Few years ago I "rebuilt" my crashed XC70 by buying a donor in poor mechanical shape buy OK body and swapped everything good mine into the donor. Driving this same car to this day.

Of course later it burned a valve in engine and ate frictions in transmission, so I learned how to rebuild those, but whatever. It is the finest car I've ever driven.

I’ve got a 2004 P2 in white parts car, we could get those parts to MD cheap, certainly to Timonium area on the Abscate Milgram Train

It will likely fail safety inspection the way it is.

I would also inspect the steering rack, tie rod/rod ends, and suspension very closely.

Have you contacted the offending driver’s insurance company? Just because your car carries a salvage title doesn’t mean they won’t give you some sort of settlement. A $1000 check would go a long way toward fixing it.
