I know, I was merely giving an example. I used a victor reinz one(as suggested by a local auto parts store), but not only did I not apply it properly, but the leaks developed afterwards took some time to have under control.
So anywhere that I can use a real ready to use gasket, I try to.
Anyway, backflushing is an effective way to unblock/unclog a filter. The past year me and another guy have advised people how to do it once their cars lost any reverse or forward gears and the amount of crap they go out was astronomical.
What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

Today I will remove the subframe, wish me luck I don't snap a bolt off! I will also order 4 new ones.
I seldom looked at the subframe bushings, and I would've really liked to replace them but I am not sure if I will be able to, due to cost. New bolts + new(used) steering rack + new Volvo ATF is already quite expensive. I've seen how bad aftermarket bushings can be. And I wouldn't want more vibration in cabin instead of less.
Volvo gives two codes 3507923 and 3507924, is this right? They have two for one side and two for the other(e.g passenger side and driver side)

Investigate those part numbers carefully. Didn’t p80 chassis have three of one part number and one odd-man?

You need 3x 3507923 and 1x 3507924, for the driver side rear corner. 3507924 is End Of Life, Volvo says use 923 instead.dikidera wrote: ↑06 Mar 2025, 00:01 Today I will remove the subframe, wish me luck I don't snap a bolt off! I will also order 4 new ones.

But, really, this is quite doable even with subframe still in place. Can defer till later.

I thought they stretch, old or new. I thought even if I currently buy new ones, and I install them + torque them down correctly, if I were to remove them again, I would have to replace + they seem to have red loctite on them.
Btw, tomorrow I will actually disassemble the steering rack, see if it's something I can replace without special tools e.g an o-ring or seal. If not, a used rack. Have nothing to lose.

The torque converter needs to be unbolted from the flywheel right? Cause I don't see how the aw55 can be removed with the tc still attached to the engine.
I unbolted the TC!
I unbolted the TC!

My buddy who is was a Volvo main dealer mechanic for many years says they re-used the sub-frame bolts. Do I recommend it from an engineers perspective? 50/50 on this.

Ok, but imagine you get new bolts, and a week later you have to drop it again, lets say your replacement part was defective and necessitates the subframe be dropped. What do you do? I do plan to buy new bolts, but imagine a week later my new rack or whatever is bad and I have to do something anew.
