96 R Center console

The back part of my center console is broken. the po managed to ruin the area where the arm rest hinges attach to. is the R specific walnut trim an insert into the large console or is it one piece? wondering if i can replace the console with a regular one and just transfer the walnut inlay. does anyone know if these walnut inlays pop out?

Does anyone of you have a spare center console at hand where he could check if these huge black plastic inserts around the shifter and where the OBD port is located can be removed?

Sorry, but no 850 console to hand. The V/S/C 70 console can be stripped down to individual components. You can remove the whole top section on those and swap in another if required. Even the rear section can be done. I had to do this a couple pf times on others cars where the arm rest mounts were broken off.
