Out of pure curiosity, could you get the alphanumeric number set in the lower left corner of the label on the back of the (probably) right side B-pillar? It's the big label that has your VIN on top. The lower left will look something like this (my V8 Sport): 33AEZ5448D52, if you could post your string, I'm interested in seeing how the vehicle was set up. Bottom of the label also includes your interior code plus the paint/shade number.
The R-Design (aka Sport) is a slightly modified vehicle with different suspension components, higher bolster seats, and a "sport" tuned speed sensitive steering module amongst other more cosmetic changes.

The eBay sensor was a dud. It made the car go into limp mode and it couldn't maintain more than 60kph unless it was on a flat surface. The car stayed off the road for a week until a decent one ordered through our local Repco dealer found a Goss part DP119 finally sorted it out.

Well I don't know about nice things anymore, especially owning this car I can only call "The Tank"
It seems every Volvo I've ever owned has had me under the bonnet almost every weekend.
Ordered some parkbrake cables and new parkbrake shoes from Alvadi in Estonia......I can't route one of the cables to rear through all the foam in the transmission tunnel. So driving it around with no park brake ATM.....so frustrated.
Console is out and wiring on the floor is a tangle of cables......
I checked the Vida procedure for the third cable going to the foot pedal and that is a doozy....Vida wants me to remove the under seat amplifier and peel back the carpet.......I tried and realised I will probably damage the carpet to get it out enough to reach the pedal assembly. So many areas of these P2s were so poorly designed in terms of access to wearing components.

Parking brake cables are being replaced why? This vehicle has a really weird way of tightening up the e-brake, it's a huge pain in the behind. If you're doing brakes, you can pull the "H" link and replace with a manual adjuster, tighten up the e-brake from time to time with a screwdriver in one of the lug holes. Looks kind of like this (adjustment procedure for 2003): viewtopic.php?p=594278 , attached notes the sleeve adjustment (post 04)-
Adding another adjuster link: viewtopic.php?p=145294

I replaced the cables because this XC90 has 370k (kilometres) on the clock. Previous owner informed me that even the dealer couldn't adjust the park brake so I assumed the cables must be stretched.
Thanks for the links I'll take a good look at them and get back to this when I have some more time

Well I had such a nightmare getting the RHS cable through the tunnel.
The ordeal spanned over several weeks where I would try to pass the cable through and have it come
out outside the raised squared off tunnel. I purchased an inspection camera and still couldn't pass the cable.
Turns out there's an elongated hole that the cable traverses through in a vertical panel that I just couldn't see. Had to split the carpet and eventually found the hole on the RHS vertical panel.
I was just happy to stitch it back together and get the console back on.
Adjustment may never happen because I purchased a new car (my first new car) which is being delivered next week (I hope)

Well almost as many swear words as trying to fit the parking brake cables on a P1 V50 AWD. Th eVida instructions made the job look easy. The typical disclaimer was that 'the same procedure is used for different cars so may vary slightly'.
Biggest load of cobblers!! The procedure was not even in the same zip code in terms of the process, nor did it tell you that there was an upgraded part required to connect to the parking brake lever which you had to buy as well. The parts guy obviously missed the note on that as well!!
The 'simple' process included removing the muffler mounts to drop the muffler down, you probably should remove the prop-shaft as you have to disconnect the heatshield that covers the cable at the top of the prop-shaft tunnel and carefully slide it back to give just enough room to access the connector. Then you remove the cable after removing several under trays to find you can't fit the cable as supplied as on an AWD the new cables are joined together.
Bottom line, like fitting P80 brake cables either AWD or FWD, there are lots of 'words of encouragement' needed for the process!
Neil.
