99 S70 AC blower loud no air

My wife came home and said the AC blower was making a "roaring sound" and no air was coming out of the vents. When I went to check, it seemed the blower was working fine but the vents were not opened. Then it just started working as usual. No problems since. Also, there were no blinking lights on the AC control panel.

Any ideas of what may have caused this?

Probably a dampener motor getting stuck. Just drive it and see if the problem comes back.

The only time I have encountered this was when the evaporator froze solid. Check the R-134A charge. If it gets to low the evap will turn into a block of ice from condensation and freezing of the humidity.

Normally the low pressure cutout switch (the pressostat) will cut out before the freezing occurs but not always. Once the airflow is restricted it just gets worse until it thaws out.

+1. Feel in the footwells and the defroster vents when that happens next--if you feel no airflow, press A/C OFF and wait a few minutes--if you start to feel cold and and hear water running (which is the ice melting) you have a system low on R-134A and/or a bad pressostat.

Not to be a pessimist, but when that happened on my car, the leak was in the evaporator

Thanks for the replies. It hasn't happened again since Saturday, so I don't have any update. If it does hppen again, I'll post what the problem was.
