XC70 3.2 Correct Idle Speed

Post by cham »

New to us 2010 XC70 3.2 AWD just got back from a shop for some ignition work (spark plugs/coils) and the idle when warm just seems low to me. Granted I had not been driving it prior to it needing work, so I unfortunately do not know what it was. In park it currently idles about 675 RPM while in drive its closer to 625 RPM. Our older V70 is supposed to be closer to 800-900 RPM in Park.

I have gotten mixed info on what it should be. Local Dealership claimed it should be 850 RPM +/- 50 while Volvo's Online Global/UK Newsroom specs claim 650 RPM (https://www.media.volvocars.com/global/ ... ifications). Owner's Manual has no mention of Idle Speed. Any ideas?

I would not stress about it. More cylinders-more balanced work of the engine and thus needs lesser idling speed. Older v70 where 5cyl so 800-850 would be a good number. Not surprised to see 650rpm on 6cyl (3.2 6cyl).

I imagined that had something to do with it, I don't have much experience with I6s but I do know they have better primary/secondary balances.
