car wont start after rebuild, 850 t5, -94

Hi, ideas needed. After finishing a long rebuild project, with fresh parts and so on.. the car wont start, and won't even try.. I'v got spark on all cylinders, there's fuel, and cranks like its supposed, all the sensors, ign coil etc.. are new. Relays are fine. Timing has been checked for just to make sure. Running out of ideas...

Sometimes after cranking for a while i can hear presure releasing, like a "puff"
When cranking, you van see smoke that smells like fuel coming from exhaust.

Make sure the distributor drive dog is the right place, it’s possible to install the drive dog turned which will give those symptoms

I'm not familiar with the name, distributor drive dog, what is it ? Is it the "plate" under the rotor? Or ?

Yes...the position of the plate behind cam position sensor should also be checked because it can go in two ways.
One way is a no start.

Plate under rotor goes only one way. It has a "nodge" that goes to a hole.
Cam shaft plate also have only one way it goes

I did a rebuild head on a 1998 and spent two weeks with a no start. Had spark at plugs and fuel at injectors and good compression.

All I get get was a slight front fire , an occasional puff of burning in the manifold.

The distributor drive dog was in the wrong place, and thus the timing was all wrong.

The plate goes two way it seems, i tried to put it to the second position, had no effect, other that it sounded even less like trying..
Running out of ideas.
Did few double checks, compresion test, fuel preasure test, timing check, all good.. still nothing

, it was the ignition drive dog, that was wrong way..
I had pictures of all of theese kind of things, but i lost my phone and all the pics so i had to relay to memory. Well amyway it works so

, still got lots to do
