Roof Rails - non-OEM

Post by weitau »

I'm looking to add a roof top carrier to my 2004 V70. I was going to buy some used OEM rails (front to back) and then use a cross rail (side to side). But I'm reading that to install the OEM rails, I have to cut into a metal trim piece. But I see many aftermarket cross bars which clips into the door openings. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with such aftermarket setups.

Do it right, IMO. OE crossbars and how they are fixed to the body is superior. I removed the trim pieces to clean channels up once, it is not difficult at all.
