Vacuum lines - 99 S70 - what does this top connector connect to?

Post by geraldfjs »

NEW MEMBER: I have a 1999 Volvo S70. I have looked at the fine article and pictures on the non turbo vacuum line post. My problem is this. I only have 4 connections on my intake manifold which are already used. The top connection on my purge valve has to be connected to something. What does this TOP connector connect to? Should one of the lines on my intake manifold include a splitter and if so which one? Thanks for the assistance.

Are you able to post a picture or pictures of what you are wanting help with? Is your car a turbo or non-turbo?

Thanks,

Neil.

Look under your hood for the yellow vacuum line sticker. You have to be a bit careful on a 99 as Volvo kept using 98 stickers for a few months, so if it has an “FPR” on it, it’s the wrong one . You don’t have the tree on a 1999, it has ports distributed around the manifold.

The purge valve usually connects to the vacuum nipple between cylinders 2 and 3 ? On the manifold. It’s a simple hose o an NA, on a turbo it splits into a T with check valves and has the T connected to the snorkel down low at the turbo

There’s a skinny line that runs to the air box on NA cars

Another possible skinny line to the SAS solenoid near the radiator ( silver) ..if you have a UFO floating behind your engine either you have SAS or they are here.

Big fat hose to the brake booster on right side of manifold

Small hose to small black map pressure sensor above radiator , NA only

Turbo cars, a medium size hose back to the turbo blow off valve

Shrimp purge, shrimp sas, shrimp turbo, shrimp map, shrimp brake….i think that’s it.
