Making slow incremental progress. Get in an hour or three after dinner.

I wrecked this ring and tried to flatten it - hah. O-ring is like rock - 60 years old. This is the seal on the bottom shaft of the steering box.

New bronze input shaft/pilot bushing. I boiled it in oil like taught in the old skool lore, it turned dark grey..? Seems fine, still slides on, I installed it.

Bellhousing back on after new seals front and back.
IMG_8203.jpg

New rubber carb mounts on the intake manifold. The siamesed center one keeps the two carbs in the same plane better than 4 individuals.

A guy makes this adapter for a HF engine stand so you can spin it easily and do the rear main seal, flywheel, and clutch. I'm not rebuilding the engine, just replacing / repairing/ rebuilding all external components - carbs, clutch, rear main seal, front crank seal, water pump, distributor, starter, fuel pump & glass filter housing, senders & sensors, gaskets, rubber. Had NAPA refinish the flywheel. New engine and trans mounts.

A loose transmission input shaft as a clutch alignment tool - more accurate than those plastic things.

Next up - get the intake manifold on. Carbs are with a Weber wizard in Chicago getting rebuilt / re-welded / restored.

4 Webers ? ! Damn they must be fun to synchronize. I had enough trouble balancing 2 SU's.

No only just the two! That’ll be hard enough!

I should have said “four individual mounts.”

Got the intake on, bought some new wave washers instead of lock washers on soft aluminum, and one 8.8 bolt to replace a pretty corroded example. Lots of evidence of coolant seepage at the manifold gasket, which rusted some of the hardware. Hopefully a quality gasket and ultra grey both sides will fix that.
