The noise has not been fixed anyway, so I'm parking the car and ordering a new wheel bearing...

It seems that the V70 got jealous of me spending all my paychecks on the subaru and wants to be the center of attention again

Hi. New to the forum.

Bought a clunker to have fun with and as usual, I didn’t check the car good enough.

Started fixing the visible defects with the interior.

I replaced the gear selector light and replaced some damaged panels, replaced faulty door lock actuator.
Then replaced all fluids and filters and spark plugs.

Welcome to our little group therapy corner, although rubbing in the fact that the underside of the car isn't a ball of rust is borderline rude.

Thanks!

I am amazed as well that it’s not more rusty, considering we heavily salt our roads in the winter time.

Started my car up and heard a very concerning loud thumping and became more concerned when I saw it was the timing belt cover looking like it was getting slapped by the belt and shaking around.

Turns out a mouse had crawled into my timing belt area and became mulched and little mousey bits were stuck to the belt slapping around. I spent a nice Saturday afternoon scraping mouse guts, fur, and a tail from the belt and found it had been violent enough to break the top timing cover cap off and wrecked the whole area around the bolt (that wraps around the sprockets).

So I zip tied it for now until I can source a new one or find a washer that fits my purpose temporarily.
