Hi, I was looking around for something affordable to buy as a first car and owning a Volvo was always a quiet dream od mine. I have noticed that there are a couple od choices when it comes to cheap Volvos, namely V40 and 850. The V40 is a cheaper choice but you know, 850 looks cooler.
To the point. What is the maintenance cost of each of these and would it drive me bankrupt.

I wouldn't get a V40 or V50. Both my cars cost me probably about $1k a year each in maintenance.

.
The S70 are low maintenance once the consumables are worked out. This is a good start if you are close.
