Re: Brake pedal still soft after replacing everything
Calipers would engage but never disengage properly on the front. Would require significant force but my tubes were toast.

When the hoses get old they start to collapse internally causing it to work like a one way valve. The FWD cars have I think 2 or 3 hoses at the rear, 1 at each wheel and 1 that is a devil to access on top of the rear axle.
There are likely aftermarket hoses out there of a decent enough quality. Check the usual sources.
Neil.

Thanks, this is good info. I'll increase priority of replacing the remaining brake hoses.
I recall being able to access the axle one by removing the exhaust. The ends were horribly rusted though. I might have to run new metal brake line if the fittings won't come off. On one of my cars, a shop had done just that, deleting that center hose.

I can't recall why that center hose was there. I'll check the stash as I think I may have aftermarket hoses that may give you an alternate part number to chase.

If you’re going to replace the brake hoses FCP carries them! They have OEM options but I went with the Techna-Fit stainless lines when I had my brakes done, since they were about the same price. The quality is fantastic and I think they did slightly improve the brake feel.
Double check these are right by plugging in your VIN or trim but these should be the right and left rears:

Not sure about the correct part for this third rear hose mentioned above though, I’d have to take a deeper dive in the parts diagrams.

Remember Ni-Copp is incredibly cheap and easy to fit and flare. Bend it around a radius item to fit like a beer can (remove beer first for safety), a hockey puck, a socket, a large sombrero.
Do your DIN bubble flare practice, then cut it off, put the flare nut on, repeat. Now cut it off again, and put the nut on the right way. Make sure your nuts are near the flare before you bend it.
That sounded too personal
