I don't think Volvo do a dog crate, they do have dividers but I've never seen a crate. Thule do a crate but I didn't like the horizontal bars so I went for the German TÜV approved 4pets Pro crate as there's less for a puppy to get its legs caught on. The puppy is Brodie, a Japanese Shiba Inu and he's 10½ weeks old now. Need to wait another two weeks before we can take him out and about.

Brodie is a cutie!

The pre-owner of my Volvo had dogs too.
Besides of the Volvo metal bar devider at the rear seat back rest, he mounted two cage doors close to the trunk door. They can be taken out without any screws. It doesn't say any brand name on it, but perhaps you could find them on Google.

Hello, my very first post here!
I recently purchased a 2006 V70 - B5244S2 engine, 250 000 miles (400 000 kilometers). It looks pretty taken care of, drives decently, doesn't appear to be leaking or anything. However, today I noticed that the breather hose which goes from the oil separator to cylinder head was split open. Not sure when that happened, but I didn't notice any weird sounds, rough idling or anything. Since I'm a Volvo newbie, this looks like a PCV issue I've read so much about. I wonder if the hose split open only due to old age or clogged PCV system.
I am a total beginner when it comes to car mechanics but I will attempt to replace the hose myself. Access to it looks very obstructed so I hope to replace the hose without taking the entire intake manifold off. Wish me luck!

When was the system last done?
It has a lot of miles, do a glove test.

repaired a slew of damaged LEDs on the DIM last night (see my other post for details), and FINALLY replaced the vanity mirror on the driver's side. this one had been bothering me since i bought the car. picked this up from the local volvo pit for ten bucks.

also saw this sweet Saab wagon at the grocery store that same day. thought I'd share.

BBQ Season Prep: Time to Clean the Grill!

With summer in full swing and BBQ season heating up, I figured it was time to clean the old grill.


Taking it apart was a breeze—easier than assembling IKEA furniture, and that’s saying something.


This grill’s been collecting road souvenirs since 2006.
I began with a warm water rinse to soften the battlefield debris, then went in with soap and a soft sponge—like giving it a long-overdue spa day.


Go-to tools for Step Two: Toothbrush and Q-tips.
Ideal for digging into the grill’s nooks and crannies where the usual sponge fears to tread.
Pro tip: Label that toothbrush. Mixing it up with your spouse’s is... not recommended.


Step 3: Dry it, rub it, polish it—repeat until it shines!
Armed with a microfiber cloth, a bit of stamina, questionable muscle tone, and a heroic amount of patience, I coaxed that grill back to life. Shine achieved. Dignity mostly intact.


Two hours later, and this elderly grill’s got its groove back.


Sure, it’s got a few battle scars after all these years—but it’s all original!


With the grill back in place, the Longnose Elk is once again the classiest Swede on the block. Cleaner, meaner, and 10% faster due to reduced bug drag.
