Coolant Brown? Rad just replaced

I have seen them here. If I were you I would drain all coolant from the block, remove the lower radiator hose and radiator drain, Button everything back up, run the car with water and coolant flush. Drain again. Once the car is cooled down run fresh water thru the system with hose with the engine block drain open and make sure the water is nice and clear. Button everything back up and fill w/ Coolant and 50% Distilled water. Run the car with the cap off to releave any air in the sytem. Top off w/distilled water. Water cools better than anti freeze so keep it at 50/50.

^ +1... I said a few days ago to flush the system a couple of times... have you done it yet?

nope, I have been working long hours... I will do it this weekend

car has not had ANY issues at all but I will flush this weekend

Do you have a gauge to measure the freezing temperature of your coolant in there now?

Ok, so I drained the coolant from the radiator petcock...

then I used a garden hose to pour into the coolant tank till it ran clear through the radiator... then I closed the radiator petcock and filled with coolant.... then I drove for 10 mins... and then got back and did the same thing again

then I filled with coolant again and now I am driving on it... I did not drain the block becuase I did not want to get that far under my car in my driveway

I also ran the heat on high and low while driving... checking back in a few to see condition of the coolant

coolant is a little brown

what is the deal??!?!?!?!?!

bad radiator.. pushing trans fluid into the coolant?

It could be that you are mixing two different types of coolant - what's left in the block with what you're pouring in - and that's causing the color change. Or, if the old coolant's corrosion inhibitors had been used up, you might just be picking up rust in the cooling system.

so should I just keep flushing it?

or do I really need to flush it out of the block?

I'd try a cooling system flush product like Prestone on the whole system, then put in new coolant and see if you still have a color change. Make sure you set the heater to high to get the coolant out of there too.
