do you think that air filters and cold air intakes help in increasing the mileage & power of your ride?

Hi Denise,
Unrestricted/cold air intakes do increase Horse Power and Milage. It means denser air entering the cylinder mixing with the fuel. That's why turbo's are so popular with racing. It compacts the air, so after it is mixed/compressed and ignited, it releases more energy to the drive train.
Car's today maximize the temperature of the air, amount of air (mass and flow) even the oxygen levels after combustion, to give the consumer the most efficient power plants out there.
We, in this Forum, are here when things go wrong:) Enjoy your stay, the people here really care about their cars and will answer questions and help when they can. Welcome to one of the best Volvo Forums out there!
Hope I helped Denise.

I'll bet I'm the only person on this site who is NOT a fan of K&N filters and their ilk :)
