Hesitation during acceleration, 2004, C70 convertible turbo.

Post by buick48 »

I just purchased a 2004 C70 convertible automatic with 36k miles on it and it seems to be hesitating during acceleration. Usually about 3k rpms, but also a little at other times. It is like the car is searching for a gear, shifts up then back down. I have used injector cleaner and am using super unleaded. If I down shift to 4th it doesn't seem to do it, but I only tried it a few times.
Thanks in advance.
Jerry

Welcome to MVS. Although the miles are a bit low for this yet, let me suggest a full flush of the transmission fluid and a change of the spark plugs and cleaning of the throttle body. If after these you're still having the same issues, then something's definitely up. Are you getting any trouble codes from the OBD-2 port?

My experience is that the dealer service departments (well, depends on where you are) are exceptionally good at draining your wallet, but not so good at diagnosing issues. Your best bet, if you're not going to try to figure this out yourself (with the help of forums like this) is to find a good independent mechanic who is well versed in Volvo.
