Hy Guys,
I have a question : i have to replace my tie rods ends on both side (apparently, OEM ones... : it's time).
There may be 2 differents steering rack on ours P80 one from TRW and another from SBI. I've looked to a video where it's explained to have a look inside the engine bay, on a plate.
Could someone confirm this information, so i could buy the rignts tie rods for my car ?
Here's a picture of the plate in the engine bay.
Thanks.
Manov

I don't believe the 850's have that detail as they only had a 7 digit number, in your case HHXHEUS. That is also an unusual format with no numbers. Most 850's as far as I know only had one brand of power steering rack. I just can't remember which. In 98, there were possibilities of 2 different racks, and the I think 99- were only the one. The 98- cars had an 8 digit number, the last number telling you which rack was originally fitted to your car. The problem are when the cut off happened date wise, and the other is if the car at this age still has the original rack fitted. They should still be interchangeable on 98- cars if I recall correctly, I don't see why not on 850's.

My '97 have TRW rack.
As far as i remember the only difference is in the inner tie rods diameter between racks...outer ones should be all the same.
Search for what says on the steering rack boot.
It should be stamped TRW for TRW rack.

The outer rod ends should be the same. You can also look at the end cap of your steering rack for the hexagonal fitting on the bottom to identify it
Hexagonal is SMI rack
Round cap is TRW rack
