Just a venting scream..2015 f150 platinum with 40k. Garage queen with almost no time under sun or splashing through salt brine winters...was changing tires to all season yesterday and noticed that right brake light was suspiciously sticking out..found out that 2 front prongs that goes into bed sheet metal are broken..no accidents, never that light was moved, no offroad..removed it today and found that it all cracked on every tab..New blank unit with led lights and no blis module around $700..in a name of Holly Volvo, what for $700? I just replaced led brake light on 2024 corolla and it was $250 oem from dealer. I joined the f150 forum and asked for advice, people suggested merimoto brand, but it is 700 for pair..I had a cold beer and bought knock off from Amazon for $105. If it will be total junk, at least will be able to return no problems. But how are you making such junk?

Could you rebuild that screw boss with JB weld and a cylinder of tape , perhaps ?

I would stroke out at $700 for taillights. Has to be one in a junkyard

I thought about junk yard option for a second. Then I remembered that it is not volvo, honda or toyota and if mine(40k, garage kept) looks like this, I can only imagine what junkyard options will look like. Jb weld was a thought, but with such brittle plastic I was worried that my time investment will be a waste of time. So for a first time in a very long time I decided to go aftermarket..eager to see its quality tomorrow

No way would I toss the whole unit just because of broken mounting tabs.
$700 ?!?
I agree. JB weld would work. If push came to shove, I'd grab a can of spray poly foam insulation ($5), and squirt some behind the unit and tape in place till the foam sets up. That stuff holds like glue and won't vibrate loose, but you could always pull and cut it out if needed.
What a rip-off !

My 1977 FORD F350 has mostly metal parts and replacement plastic parts are usually cheap. But it gets 8 MPG, the AC does not work, the paint is crap, and the cab is noisy.

I loved my ‘70 Ford Bronco in high school in 1977. It was a total wreck from Alaska. I put a Ford parts counter remanufactured 302 in it, put junkyard fenders and panels on it, had Earl Scheib paint it for $49.95. The engine was pretty cheap really. My new taillight lenses were maybe $12.

It was made of all metal, got terrible mileage with that flat windshield, the (new) paint was crap, it was noisy, and wandered around on the Interstate.

'55 F100
'65 F100
'65 Mustang convertible
'68 Galaxie 500 convertible
'84 F150
'87 Bronco

And my son just picked up a '02 F450 7.3L for work. The only one that gave me problems was the Bronco. And that one made up for all of the others.

Not that I am a hater, but was following my neighbor in his Lincoln and noticed he has a "bulb fluid leakage".. this is not normal. Only 1 of our 5 P3 fleet had 1 trunk high mount "bulb fluid leak" on its 8th year.

Walk of shame here...tried to buy Amazon part for $109...outside it was a beauty, but wires were thinner than my kids godzilla toy has, when moving pig tail to blind spot module, every pin at the main connector starts to move...I remembered ukrainian proverb "gready man pays twice " and bought oem for $431 from ebay Ford dealer. At least was able to save 200..
