The base car was 1970 Ford Torino GT. Change is from firewall forward. Cabin and rear deck appears the same. I have no idea who styled this version.
My first car was a worn stock version with tired 302 V8 and mismatched gold paint.

I missed that one, I was thinking Mopar.
The king Cobra should have reminded me of the 428 CI ford motor of that era, two 4 bbl carbs I think?

Those Pinto's were iconic, my grandmother rearended one in her camper truck. It didn't blow up fortunately. Our high school parking lot had an ever present "flesh" colored '79 Pinto. They officially called this colour "Chamois" in the dealer brochures. My bestfriend had a '78 Pinto wagon with a full load; V-6, power everything and air conditioning, deluxe interior, wire wheel hubcaps and fake wood on the sides. It was actually a very nice car.

Lugnut has it, this is the 1970 Ford Torino King Cobra. It was an aero exercise designed by Larry Shinoda to counter the Dodge / Plymouth Superbirds in NASCAR. Before it could hit the track, Lee Ioccoca took over as Ford President and slashed the racing budget.
There were two, sold for peanuts from a Ford backlot, one ended up in a hotrod museum in Tennessee. This is the other one, discovered in a field in South Carolina and restored. It sold at auction years ago for almost a half million dollars. And it’s a Torino….
