Oil leak between the block and the "upper oil pan" is what the mechanic called it. He said they would have to remove the engine and flip it upside down to reseal it, or the crankshaft would fall out. I bought this car used, and someone had put some kind of goo or jbweld on the seam to stop the leak, but it only slowed it down. Any suggestions?

I don't think it is called the "upper oil pan", but you remove the oil pan to access the bolts to remove this portion of the block. The leak just happens to be right behind/above the oil filter housing.

You can kind of see what I mean from this diagram, the block is labeled as 1 but it is two parts, and the leak is between them: https://volvo.oempartsonline.com/v-2012 ... ne--mounts
