UPDATE - PROBLEM SOLVED. I opened up the driver door panel this morning and in the process of removing it, I discovered that the electrical connector that attaches at the back end of the driver door module had become completely detached from it. I had replaced the window regulator mechanism two months ago and I must not have fully seated that connector, as it apparently worked itself loose. Anyhow, it is now fully seated and secured and all door functions, warning chimes, etc. are performing as normal.

Hello friends!

The car runs just fine otherwise but the footwell lights on both the driver and passenger side will not turn off and the chime/bell that signals that "the key is in the ignition and the door is open" will NOT stop. I've tried flipping the door latch manually to attempt to fool it but there is no change.

I haven't opened up the door panel yet to access the DDM and wiring connectors. I don't believe that the wiring from the chassis thru to the door is damaged - there is no indication of any damage to the rubber boot/sleeve. This just came out of the blue last night.

I've tried spraying the door latch with contact cleaner and WD40 and slamming it shut a few times to jar loose any stuck micro switches, to no avail.

Am I looking at both the door open message and the lack of power to the mirror controls/central locking/window lifts being all related to a bad DDM or is it a bad DDM coupled with a bad doorlock actuator?

Any and all advice or info is welcomed and appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I think the door lock mechanism/actuator has built in sensor for open/close. I dont remember seeing actual micro switch the last time I took a door apart. It is likely a part of actuator. I dont believe they are very expensive on the used side. Probably 40-80 woukd be my quick guess. Not sure about p2 price, but recently I had a scare with freaking child lock on my p3 xc70(the worst design ever of child lock on/off) and it was $280 for new unit.
