My 1999 AWD ETB went south, so i swapped in a good used one.
Unlike the NA ones, the ETB lives under the Intake Manifold.
I documented the removal here, but will recap in next post.
The third post documents how I put the new one back in.

Re installation
Caveats - radiator fan, shroud, and turbo piping removed.
Problem statement - the ETB has to be installed from below the Intake Manifold, blind with four long M6 (10mm head) hex bolts running vertically. A gasket is fitted between ETB and IM so you have to get all those pieces lined up somehow.
My procedure.
I used two small pieces of electrical tape to secure the gasket in the right place.
See bolt labels ftom bottom of ETB here
Now put on bolt A and put it through the gasket hole, offer up the ETB from underneath and get bolt A started with a 10mm long socket, no handle yet.
Now pivot the ETB on bolt A until you can see bolt hole iii thtough the gap in the IM. Use the visual to thread the bolt iii up into the gasket, then pivot the ETB back and get bolt iii started.
Once you have the corners in, go back and put in bolts 2 and sqrt(16) to complete
I then rolled underneath and used long extensions to tighten all four m6 bolts to torque
Tip- you want the hard pipe clamp to be loose to turn on the ETB and facing forward on the left side - this lets you tighten the clamp from the front. See red arrow in label photo for the path for the 7mm hex to tighten the hose

Little note of apology ….my numbering of the bolts above is following the tradition of CarTalk on PBS where lists were always numbered in jest…
1.
B.
iii.
And square root of 16 is 4 of course.
Technically , it’s +-4 , but that would be wierd
