My dad did a lot of geology work in Ouray, Leadville, Fairplay. That valley is like 10,000 ft elevation, crazy.

Why did they make some XC wagons with the funny pale blue plastic cladding? Or was that a mistake and it was a sun / UV reaction?

I went looking for a black front bumper for an 02 XC. 3 XC's in a junkyard. All 3 had blue bumpers! One was blue and the other 2 were silver.

Yea those blue bumpers are crazy. I doubt we could ever find out the reasoning behind it, or the production numbers or ratio of black/blue, but I'd love to know.

Come to think of it I've never actually thought about this blue bumper thing before.

We're going to drive to Ouray via the Million Dollar Highway tomorrow, i.e., that one with the sheer drop-offs. If I had a serious 4x4 we'd take a left onto that bananas trail over Imogene Pass and down into Telluride.

DON’T FALL OFF!!

I want to drive the Beartooth Highway from Red Lodge MT to Yellowstone Park, up over a massive plateau at 11,000’. Spectacular vistas, solid rock, 1000 little lakes. Open from Memorial Day (usually) to October.

When I was maybe 13, my dad and I almost rolled his Bronco off an abandoned mining road way above timberline up there. We would have bounced and rolled a thousand feet before anything slowed us down. We slid sideways on wet grass, had to climb out the uphill door. He cleverly dug long trenches for the wheels, backing up and gradually getting it back up on the road. When we got home, he had a roll bar installed.
