Auto-Rx in Volvos?

Post by trap6435 »

I've bought a 1999 v70 r awd with 50,000 miles and I'm loving it! I've researched the internal engine and transmission cleaner, Auto-Rx, and only find positive feedback all across the web in all sorts of vehicles. Has anyone on the forum had occasion to use this stuff in their Volvo engine and/or transmission? What were the results? FYI, their web site and forums are located at http://www.auto-rx.com. I just posted a couple of questions there about flickering warning lights. Any information would be appreciated!

I just used it in my Saab. Engine seems to idle a little quieter. I haven't heard anything bad about it either. Usually with this type of product, there's at least a few unhappy customers.

i have also never heard anything bad about the stuff, though i would imagine anything that removes sludge and varnish would possibly expose a leak or make a small leak worse. It wont create leaks, thought it could uncover a problem that is very small or open up a hole filled by sludge.

probably on a engine with such low miles you would be pretty safe, might not be a bad idea to try the first treatment and see where you are.

did a google search and saw nothing but impressive pictures and good compression results after....

I have experience with Seafoam. Every 10 k miles I let a vacuum hose suck half a can into the system on a warmed up car, shut down the engine for 5 minutes, and crank it back up and it blows white smoke for 10 minutes out of the exhaust. I use the remaining half can as a fuel additive with a full tank of gas. It cleans out the carbon and other deposits in the fuel and intake system.

'96 854 - died an early death with 184K miles. Killed by the front end of an LTD on a suicide mission (T-boned and both cars totaled).
