What's the resistance in the Crankshaft Position Sensor Connector of Your Volvo 850

Indeed, that’s what I’m trying to find out Initially I placed the multimeter probes into the wiring-harness terminals and got a reading of 14 kΩ. From what you’re saying, it sounds like the process is a bit more involved than that. I’ll need to remove the ECU, identify the actual CPS pins (Probably by checking continuity) and then measure the wiring resistance properly.

At this point i would just verify that wiring for tdc sensor(rpm sensor) have continuity.
If the wiring is ok....then the sensor must be bad...or dirty.
If the sensor's resistance is within range,then it must be dirty or tip is damaged.
Remove it and inspect it for accumulated dirt.
It can be cleaned with brake cleaner.
