I am no stranger to the many junkyards in the metros around me. I am familiar with the many volvos that end up there. The majority xc90s (and corresponding s80s) that end up there seem to be the 3.2 inline 6. I will never recommend the 3.2 to anyone because of this. I see the 3.2 for sale on Facebook by the dozens. And I see many V8 models for sale, and I've even seen a couple locally, even though we're out in Timbuktu. I think I've actually seen one or two V8s in the junkyard.

However, there has been a question nagging at me for quite some time. What's the deal with the gen1 T6? Let's say over the last eight years that I have been car shopping, it is extremely rare to see a xc90 t6 for sale. And it's so rare to see them at the junkyard that I don't remember if I've actually actually seen a T6 at the junkyard, excluding the occasional s80 gen1. So my question is, did all of the T6 models make it to the junkyard before 2020 or are people really just using them and keeping that many?

The XC90 T6 was a fiasco. Many of the transmissions blew because they were not rated for 4700 lbs.

Do you have an hour? https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/?s=xc90+t6

My dad had a S80 T6 and it was fine. Fast, quiet, smooth, comfortable... whenever I walked up to it, it whispered "Want to drive to Las Vegas?"

"Want to drive to NYC?"

"Want to drive to San Diego?"

"Want to drive to Miami?"

Etc.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

I considered that maybe it was a transmission thing. I'm considering eventually buying my mom an 04 s80 t6. She turned 50 this year and has retired from teaching.
