I have a basic spread sheet made with Excel. If anyone wants it to add to, PM me with your email address. If you promise not to change widths of the columns I believe I can merge yours with others and mine after you send it back with new information and then I'll send the updated file back out to you.

If anyone knows of a site where we can post this and collaborate on at the same time that would be even better!

All, I got this up on Google Docs so everyone can view, and invitees can edit it. PM me for an invite to edit with an email address (you'll need to set up a free Google account to sign in). The sheet is at http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key= ... not83ScAMQ

Thanks VCA. MIJ, that is probably similar to the MSN solution you proposed, but I'm guessing more universally accessible. If it's the same, sorry I shot down your idea.

osolanog850 and VCA, do you have suggestions on how to enter more than one repair URL for any given model? Some repairs have 6 or more URLs.

My first inclination was to create another row and pop the 2nd, 3rd etc. repair in the new row. But now I'm thinking that may not be best.

Add all urls in the same field, separated by commas?

Thanks for your attention to this Matt.
I vouch for VCA on this- this is the real deal!
Matt, why can't you just add rows, then we'll merge the rows that are empty under the code? I know this spreads things out but things are pretty large to begin with.

HI
I was thinking yesterday when David sent me the file to agroup all the data in a pivot table in excel, where you can click in one item and the information pop up, and the only information you can see is the theme of each repair, and then you can browse the information that you might need it.

What do you think guys?

Here's my $.02
You guys do whatever you need to make it work for the next 2-6 weeks. Then I'll take everything in the spreadsheet and put it in a db table, and write a page around it.

Users will select a code, then a model. Then they'll get a list of pages with fixes.

On the back end, and not available to everyone, we'll have an input page where me, mods and others may add to this list.

So in summary, the spreadsheet is only a stopgap measure. But don't let that stop you from making it work well. If pivot tables help, by all means use them. :-) I don't know enough about Excel intricacies to be able to comment on these advanced features.

What can I do to help? Do you need the masses to pick a code then add a hyperlink to the volvo repair database or volvospeed bay 13? I want to help, but I'm not sure how exactly to do it.
