warped hub? unbalanced half shaft?

keep us posted- somehow none of this sounds good at all. If the tranny is shot, might be time to do a manual transmission swap!

hi mij, i agree with you in regards to the sour sounding post i just typed. at the moment im taking a break and the mind set "it is what it is"
as far as the sublimianl messege about the the 5 speed idea is concerned? im thinking of trading my whole fleet in for one vehicle to save on insurance, taxes fees and not to mention a rather slumlping economy. this car i have now is a bottom feeder in the hierarchy and simply not worth the conversion. its a great car but all things must come to an end

hello! heres a good one for ya! if there is a link for the most boneheaded maneuvers of the year this has to rival the best!
here goes! go drive to my indy mechanic today and explain the deal to him, he gets in the car for test drive and comes back a few minutes later and tells me the only noise im hearing is the trac's pump cycling! im thinking to my self how that could be seeing as the fuse was in my glove box. he pops the hood opens up the fuse box and i go DAAAA! with a capitol D!!!
wrong fuse so my abs unit is actually on and confusing the heck out of the transmission. remember that i have just performed major surgery to this module (which i will never do again) so that noise that i heard while the car was in the air was actually caused by a bad abs pump (made worse when i attempted to repair it)
you would think a guy who can yank off an abs module can certainly put a fuse in and pull it out. you see when the car was in the air a bit i was asked by a tech up in the car to pull the abs fuse. i had to stand on my tiptoes and go by feel. oh well! live and learn oh and that aggrevating vibration is the front axel

I have a wobble in the steering wheel up to about 40 and it goes away. It also goes away on a snow covered street, even when only one wheel is on a slippery surface. And once backing up and turning there was a strong pull in the steering wheel. So it seems like it is a CV joint. No problem when a wheel is jacked up and run either. No apparent wheel bent. Tires seem round. Boots are good. Could it just need grease? Or could it be an axle as in previous post? I would not suspect that.
I don't know the history of the car but it is colorful I think. It has a turbo engine in it, not original.

I have not fully resolved the issues on my platinum. I did replace the rebuilt axles with new EMPI axles which helped. I also replaced a broken motor mount on the front of the engine which helped.

The problem, however, persists. Once the spring thaw hits I plan to replace the rest of the motor mounts and see if I can't tame everything down. From there I think my next stop is the front hubs.

I think I found my problem- a bubble on the RF tire. Tread has separated. It's on inboard part of tire, and when that part hits the ground it is causing a torque to be applied because that part has more traction momentarily.

Went to buy a new tire, 195-60 16. Not easy to find either. Couldn't find one yet. We'll see what happens - after I find some new tires!

Actually my tires are 15", not 16. Misread the tire. No wonder they were hard to find.

My steering wheel wobble problem has been solved with new tires on front. One had a bubble. Now smooth as silk with Michelin MXVs.
