Post by vroomvolvo850 »

I just tested my volvo and retreived those codes:
A1 114-Program selector open circuit or short circuit to supply.

A2 111-No faults

A3 111-No faults

A6 214-RPM sensor signal missing
241-EGR system flow too low in system
154-EGR system flow too high in system
413-EGR temp sensor signal faulty

Does anyone know exactly what these mean? Is it translating to major repairs or simple fixes?

I think my first step would be to clear the codes and see what comes back. There is a lot of contradictory information there.

The EGR flow to low is a pain in the butt to fix but it involves removing the EGR valve and cleaning all of the crud out of the hole in the intake manifold and also cleaning up the EGR valve. The bolts on the EGR valve are a royal PITA to get off.

The (A-6) 2-1-4 can't be persistent or the car would not run.

Ok I ran the test again after clearing the codes.I still got 2-1-4 and the other codes as stated also when i tried to clear out the transmission the led light remained lit very dimmly. What is that about? As for the RPM sensor i do agree that that sounds a little funny but that is what i am getting. PLEASE HELP!

The 2-1-4 is actually a RPM sensor signal sporadic faulty. That code is often caused by the lead from the RPM sensor wire being to close to the coil wire or the ignition wires. Volvo had a TSB on that and the fix is to use a ty wrap to secure the sensor wire away from the ignition wires.

How does the car run?

the car runs fine.......good starting......good acceleration...i belive i have a leaky gasket and my oil burns off pretty fast....other than that fine...no major problems. I was however reading up on the ERG valve and i belive that that wouldnt be such a task...

Low battery, maybe. These cars do strange things when the battery gets low.
