Didn't work.
Matt, when it says return to the previous page..
THEN it bounces me off and asks to log in again.
THAT is the problem, YOUR programming problem.
Don't blame the computer it does this every time.
MVS cookies were cleared, computer was thoroughly cleaned, no issues ANYWHERE else except here

JRL, perhaps you have a misconception about what's going on with the site software.
The MVS Forums is run by phpBB, the most-used open-source forum software in the world. Translation: a shitload of people use it.
http://www.phpbb.com/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PhpBB
I first installed it in 2002, at this very domain. Since then I've installed and configured it at at least a half-dozen Web sites, both for clients and for other sites of mine. It's always worked well, and login/logout issues were always fixed by deleting site cookies.
Here on MVS it's a fresh copy of that software, version 3.0.2. Literally. I downloaded and installed the code we're using on Sunday. It's not my programming. It's way better.
That is why, when I take this fact and combine it with my "Developer's Sixth Sense" molded from 10 years of doing web development at small and large businesses, I say it's probably your PC.
I'm done with this because I'm out of ideas. I wish you luck with using this site.

Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.
Also -> Amazon link. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

I'm using Vista... and again I'm not having problems either. I'm also using a Mac at work Mac OS 10... no problems there.
I even fired up my dinosaur of a computer running a P4 on XP, IE... and.. no problems. Well save for the 14" monitor which is awful.

Matt,
Completely unrelated but I noticed that when I click on a link in a post it does not open a new window but instead just takes me to where it's linked. On the old forum a new window was opened to the linked page and so after viewing it, I would just close that window and I was back to the original thread on MVS. Because of the way things are now, after I close the window, my entire browser closes and so I have to start Firefox again to get back to Matthews because I have forgotten time and time again that a new window is not opened. Is there any way to configure the form so that links we click on open a new window?
Dave

Well Matt, sterling job so far, it seems that there are a few problems some folks are experiencing.
I cannot complain and would like to thank you for your efforts. The new forum looks very good and has a "clean" feel to it.
I have have had a few "hangings" but then the computer is as old as(almost)my 94 Volvo and believe the fault lies with the PC.

Thanks Tailor
.
That was a conscious decision on the part of the phpBB3 authors. The wisdom of that has certainly been remarked upon at phpBB.com. Oddly, there isn't a simple on/off option in the admin controls for that. It's some actual edits to the core code to get it to pop external links into seperate pages (but not internal links). I'll try to address that sometime.MadeInJapan wrote:Matt,

Thanks Matt. In the meantime I'll try to remember to right click and select "open link in new window."

^^^ MIJ, I'm not in front of a PC right now, but you can do a left-click while holding CTRL or ALT to do this. On Mac it's Applekey. Much faster than right-clicking.
