Volvo S60R 2004 Bulb Failure Multiple Bulbs
Volvo S60R 2004 Bulb Failure Multiple Bulbs
Hi: I took my car into the dealer for service a couple of months ago when the above text message came on. They said the lights were working, but a motor driven sensor ($1275) needed to be replaced so the text message would go off. I opted to keep driving it for the time being. Later, I realized that the lights are pointed too far downward and it is hard to see at night. I took it back and this time they said the lights were not working properly and needed the same replacement part: a headlight assembly (the whole casing with the sensor, etc.). This controls the headlight height. Is there any other way to deal with this that is less costly? I was in a minor front fender bender, plus we live in Pot Hole, USA, so I imagine one of these could be the cause.

Welcome to MVS.
I don't know a lot about your car, but this is the first time I've heard of such a sensor. My gut tells me that they are full of crap and trying to take your $$. Wait until JRL or some of the more knowledgeable folks with your car come on board to answer your questions. I feel that whatever is going on is not going to be such a difficult thing (or expensive) to deal with. Btw, I don't think that adjusting the angle of the headlight is very difficult. In fact, I believe it's in your owner's manual. Otherwise, I just did a search and for the "multiple bulb" message, other S60 owners were just replacing bad bulbs and the message went out (this was over on Volvospeed forum). Anyway, wait around and I know you'll have a better answer.
