Hi everyone
recently bought a second hand Volvo S40 1.8 Auto 1999. Running fine except for this front passenger speaker problem.
I get noise from both the door and dashboard speakers on the passenger side so I doubt its a problem with the speakers.
my Q is this a known fault and are there any fixes short of disabling the 2 speakers giving off the noise ?
thanks in advance

I should also mention
the noise that I hear is independant of speaker volume. i.e. if I turn down sound so u cant hear radio u can still hear the noise/static/crakling at the same intensit. the sound dissapears when i turn the system off.
also the sound remains contant if I change the balence over to the other side of the car.
The noise occurs even when the engine is off and I'm just running the radio.
However the noise occationally dissapears and then comes back moments later.

Sounds like there is a wire going to ground somewhere.
I would first check behind the speaker and the wire between the door and body.
