1999 V70 Which engine
1999 V70 Which engine
I have a 1999 V70 and the VIN starts YV1LW55A9X. I looked online and it looks like there are 2 different engines listed for the "55", B5254FS MOT 4.4, B5254S DENSO. How do I know which engine I have?

Well, let's see if we can solve that mystery. First, is this a US market car or other market? In either case, I want to confirm it's a '99: does turning the key to the II position turn on (among all the others lights that come up) an ETS warning light on the left side of the instrument cluster?vooman82 wrote:I have a 1999 V70 and the VIN starts YV1LW55A9X. The only thing I can add is that the DENSO system has a real funky looking camshaft position sensor. It has a part (presumably a hall effect sensor) that plugs into the housing near the top of the main housing through a nipple. The Motronic just has wires coming out of the side of the cam position sensor.

According to VIDA, naturally aspirated '99 V70 wagons (which your VIN confirms the production year with it's 10th character of X) were all B5254S DENSO vehicles. '98 (10 character of W) V70s were B5254FS with Motronic 4.4.vooman82 wrote:I have a 1999 V70 and the VIN starts YV1LW55A9X. For turbo cars, the control system for '99 and '00 was Motronic ME 7.

This is a North American car.
I turned the key to position II and ETS came up.
I believe that the Denso is correct as I was looking at a wiring diagram and found the 2 O2 sensors are both 4 wires, which it showed on the diagram.
Thanks for the help.
