The battery is stuck in my '96 960. I have taken off all known bolts but there are two metal clips in front and rear of battery that for the life of me I can not unclip. PLLEEEASE help me if you can, i need to get my baby back on the road.

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

There should be only one retaining clip for the 960 battery. This is at the front of the battery and has a long bolt with a loop at its top end.

At the rear of the battery there is a lip in the battery tray which allows the moulding of the battery to slide under to hold it in place.

Normal procedure is to remove the bolt and retaining clip, move the battery forward slightly to clear the rear lip and lift it out.

If there are other fastenings they were not put there by Volvo.

The metal piece with the loop is the bolt, unless somebody has altered yours. It is made like that so you can access it easily.
