Recently purchased a S70 with 108,000 miles for my daughters. Thanks to Matthew for providing this site and the number of knowledgeable contributors. This is our first Volvo and I am impressed for the most part with the car and features. It has also led to my wife's interest in a XC90.
I got the S70 at a good price because of some issues regarding repair and maintenance. Using this site as research and reference I was able to correct most of them at a reasonable price.
To date I have:
Changed the front stuts and spring seats.
Changed the oil, filter and drain plug.
Flushed the transmission fluid.
Flushed the brake fluid.
Changed out the plugs, distibutor cap and rotor.
Tracked down a vacum leak.
Replaced the front headlight cover.
Replaced the front turn signal assembly.
Still to do:
Change timing belt, water pump and tensioner.
Install a skid plate
Fix the A/C

Congratulations! You are learning to appreciate your Volvo by the same method most of us do.... by working on it.
If something were to happen to one of our's we would just look for another like it in good condition. This is mainly because I couldn't give up the knowledge base I've gained, thanks to great sites like this one and the courtesy of other owners who share their experience.
