2002 v70xc - Cooling fan turns on after turning off engine

Hi, I am new to the forum and a new Volvo owner.

I've had a 2002 V70 cross country for about a week now and just today it started acting strange. When I turned off the car after driving for 30 minutes and getting up to normal engine temperature (not overheated) the radiator fan turned on and ran for a few minutes after the car was off. I could not tell if it had been running while driving but I know that the thermostat gauge on the dashboard showed normal reading (50% of the range). It is about 40 degrees fahrenheit where I live and I don't think the car was too hot. Is this normal behavior for the car?

Welcome to MVS. Your fan coming on like it does is absolutely normal. Be glad you have this...it blows out condensation and dries things out- something the older 850's didn't have and a known problem is the condensation causing rust in the A/C evaporator, rendering it broken.

He's talking about his ENGINE fan not the cooling blower.
Most fans do come on for a few minutes after running but it can be different from car to car.
Mine comes on anytime, even in cool weather, my wife's 2000, same car, does not and yes I've replaced everything, thermostat and cooling sensor
