My volvo runs fine and when I'm on the highway it will start to lose power and then automatically shut off. I pull over and wait afew minutes and then it starts again. My mechanic says he gets a code that says TPS but the volvo dealer says there is no TPS. The dealer suggests we change the whole throttle body but it's $500 and they're not sure it'll really work. Anyone know?

I'd examine the fuel system. Maybe change the fuel filter, run some fuel treatment through it. That's my $.02, and I'm not a mechanic.
And/or take it to an independent Volvo mechanic and see what he thinks, or call one and bounce it off him. Phone book's got the indy's listed.
