hey volvo-ites,
I just had a fuel emission leak code pop up(P0455) via "scan gauge II". After having the 70,000 mile service done afew 1000 miles ago, i wouldn't suspect the hoses to be bad. So the first thing i did was tighten down the fule cap and reset the cel. Started up and no code. Could it have been that simple? Or does the computer only give you one shot at fixing it?
Having cleared the cel with out a comprehensive test has me a little worried.
Help.

Yes, sometimes it can be that simple...other times- well, don't get me started.

Glad it's working out for you...I have heard very good things about that gauge. How much "real time" scanning can be done with it while the car is running?

the gauge's refresh rate is adjustable. i have it set at two seconds(the fastest). the thing i like the most about the gauge is that it can display four different sensor readings of your choice. it can tell you intake air temp, water temp, fuel pressure(na in most vehicies),ignition timing, engine load, miles per gallon, miles per hour, manifold absolute pressure(had no reading),rpm's, throttle position setting and battery voltage.
it can also change color, three intensities of red, blue, and green can be chosen in any config. the best thing...its not vehicie specific. plug and play. some set up is required for the trip computer to be accurate.
im happy with it

Thanks for the info on the P0455 code. My Volvo 850 set this code four time times over three weeks. I bought a new gas tank cap (Stant 10817 from Napa, for $6) and put it on... problem solved.

jreed, let me be the first to welcome you to MVS.
I'm glad you're finding the site helpful to you.
If you have any questions, feel free to post and we'll do our darnedest to answer your questions. As you have probably surmised by now, especially with your car, most problems you have had or will have, have all been experienced before by someone and there seems to be a pattern with issues and commonly occurring problems that usually have a fairly simple fix.
