240 power steering rattling

I have a 1991 volvo 240, and it appears the power steering pump (or the general area) makes a "rattling" noise while idling. I know these engines have a tractor type sound anyway, but I was wondering if this noise means the pump is failing.

The car seems to steer fine, I've never lost power to it, and the fluid level is fine, and it seems relatively fresh.

Any ideas?

Does the rattling noise disappear when you increase the revs?

What mileage is on the car?
