850 GLT 1997 Starter not engaging

Post by HareBall »

I have re-assembled my timing belt and other things I was removing when I was stopped by some smarter Volvo owners(chuckcintron & MIJ). Now when I try to start it, all my starter does is spin and not engage with the flywheel. I doubt this has anything to do with it dying on me last week.
Any Ideas?

Larry,
I'm away in N.C. right now but I'll try to keep up with you if you'll keep posting. Have you checked your TPS?

It is neatly tucked away under the intake manifold where it is difficult to get to. If you can get to it with a pipe and give it a good hard smack the Bendix will likely kick back out and it will engage.

Today, I got out and discovered that the engine is turning over. It isn't the starter not engaging.
It didn't try to start, it would just turn over. No sounds other than an engine turning. :?:
