Regarding JRL

This is a response to a thread that devolved recently in the Volvo 850, Volvo S70, Volvo V70, Volvo XC-70 forum.

First, to all members who faithfully abide by my Don't Be Rude rule, I want to apologize for not banning JRL. He can be very abrasive, and I try to look for those posts and edit them to tone it down. And yes, I've sent him warnings both publicly and via MVS Forums private message.

So why don't I ban him if he's rude? I don't ban JRL because he offers very good insight into owning and maintaining FWD and AWD Volvos. He buys, fixes, drives and sells the cars we talk about, and has a deep well of experience to draw upon. He often dips into it to add quality info to threads here at MVS Forums.

JRL is the only user I allow this luxury. It's a slippery moral slope, and I'm aware that I'm open to heavy criticism because of it. Feel free to pile on me for it.

Personally, I think JRL a) drinks too much coffee, b) doesn't exercise enough, c) is under lots of pressure with his business, or d) a combination of all three. I've never corresponded with him privately other than to help him with technical MVS Forums issues and to ask him to tone down his wording, so this is pure conjecture.

JRL, there is a saying "You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar." I've said it before and I've said it again, you can help your business by being less pompous, and refraining from using bolds, caps and insults in your posts. Step back and read your posts, and you may see how you sometimes look like a high school sophomore debating why XBox 360 is better than Playstation 3.

I'm closing this thread to comments because MVS Forums are about giving and getting quality Volvo help, not about us MVS members. I won't tolerate a personality cult or infighting, big or small.
