where to find 12 volt wire ?

Post by yellowpuulwater »

ok please help me ! i have purchased 2 interior neon lights for my 850 turbo, and i took the panels off under the steering wheel, and glove compartment, and i installed the lights, but i have a problem with the wiring! i bought a switch which i mounted by my traction control button. Pretty much, the power goes to the switch, and then the power to the lights! I want to hook up the 12 volt wire to the power seat wires, because they can operate even when no key is in !! but, i dont know which wire under the seat is the 12 volt wire, and i dont wanna mess up my airbags or anything......does anyone know ?

~pts.

there are a few ways to solve this. im not completely familiar with your car, i own an 82 240DL. but you could use a multistat to test the seat wires. a multistat is one of those hand held devices that tell you current, resistance and voltage. or you could trace the wires back to the fuse box. the wires should be color coded.

When I install a new accessory in my cars and trucks, I run a new wire from the battery. For the install I put a fusible link on the battery side and a terminal block in the car for the Positive and Negative connections. Once this is installed I can add and remove accessories as I need easily and quickly, with out worry of screwing any thing up in the car, or having to look for a good ground. Also make sure that each accessory has its own fuse after the terminal block. Happy wiring, Da
